Frequently Asked Questions Boat Rentals Without a License – Your Questions, Our Answers

Do I really not need a boat license?

Yes, really. All of our rafts are equipped with 15-horsepower engines and, according to German water laws, can be operated without a license. You must be at least 18 years old and attend our on-site orientation.

What happens during the orientation?

Our team will explain everything you need to know right on the boat: how to steer, safety procedures, and the rules on the water. This takes about 60 minutes and is mandatory—at least two people, including the boat captain, must be present.

Does that apply to the Zillen as well?

An experienced boat captain from our team is always on board the Zillen—so you don’t need a license or any training. Just hop on and enjoy the Danube.

What is the minimum age?

All passengers must be at least 18 years old—this applies to the entire group, not just the boat operator.

Is the boat operator allowed to drink alcohol?

No. There is a strict alcohol ban for the boat operator—0.0% blood alcohol content. All other passengers are free to party as much as they like, as long as the sober person is in charge of steering.
