FAQ Frequently Asked Questions About Boat Rentals on the Danube

Do I need a boat license?

All of our rafts are equipped with 15-horsepower engines and can be operated without a license. The only requirements are that you be at least 18 years old and attend our pre-departure briefing (approx. 60 minutes), which must be attended by at least two participants, including the boat operator.

Our rowboats always have a boat operator on board—so not only do I not need a boating license, but I also don’t need any instruction

How do I book a boat?

It couldn't be easier: Just select the date and boat of your choice in our online shop, buy your tickets—and you're all set to have fun on the Danube!

Can I bring my own alcohol?

On our adventure rafts, there is a strict alcohol ban for the boat captain—0.0% blood alcohol content. You’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks. On the Zillen, we provide the drinks for themed trips (wine and beer tastings)—but feel free to bring your own food. As always, though: alcohol on the water is fine, but in moderation. And at the helm—not such a good idea.

Are there life jackets?

Everything we do complies with Bavarian regulations and safety requirements—which is why all our boats, rafts, and rowboats… appropriate flotation devices or life jackets are, of course, always available in sufficient quantities. Because: Safety comes before fun!

What happens in case of bad weather?

In case of bad weather, such as heavy rain, we’ll be happy to reschedule your booking for an available time slot or issue you a credit. In the event of a serious hazard—such as a hurricane or flooding—we’ll cancel the trip and you’ll receive a refund or a credit.

Can I go through the locks by boat?

No—passing through the locks is not permitted. You may only navigate in the section between the Bad Abbach lock and the Regensburg lock.

Can I book the sauna raft in the summer?

Our sauna raft is only available from October 1 through March 31—that is, when the days are short and cool and the weather is so dreary that you can truly appreciate the crackling of the wood-burning stove and the sweat-inducing heat of the beechwood-heated sauna. During the rest of the year, a different kind of unique adventure awaits you with our adventure rafts.
