Stay Safe – Boat Tours & Raft Trips in Regensburg Rules & Safety – Boat Rental on the Danube

Just as on the road, there are rules that apply on the water: mutual consideration, defensive navigation, and constant vigilance form the foundation.

In addition, the following legal regulations apply on the Danube as an inland waterway:

Compliance with these regulations is monitored—just as it is in road traffic. Depending on the violation, this may constitute a criminal offense, which is then prosecuted by the public prosecutor’s office—again, just as in road traffic. A strict ban on alcohol applies to the boat operator—if the operator operates the vessel while under the influence of alcohol, this constitutes a criminal offense and will be prosecuted accordingly.

And here’s the most important rule when navigating the Danube:
Commercial vessels always have the right of way!
